Background Knowledge:
A collection of 100 poems that the author wrote when she had no other outlet to turn to. Suffering in silence for years, filling blank pages with words that crawled out of her mind became her source of venting, expressing her frustration, and explaining in her terms what mental illness feels like. Reflected in her words are the lows of depression, the highs of anxiety, the depths of self-hatred, and sprinkled in are the moments of hope that kept her going. This work marks the beginning of the author's journey of rescuing herself with words as she speaks her truth in the simplest, most honest way she can. (Description From Goodreads)
Review:
~First of all, I would like to thank the wonderful author of this book for sending me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!~
I really enjoyed this book. Lots of the poems were relatable, and they weren't fluffing up reality. Lots of us today struggle with topics mentioned here (ex: loneliness, anxiety, depression, etc.), and L.M. puts it into words for us. Thank you so much for writing this book, it has definitely helped me! :)
Things I Loved:
-These poems were simply reality. Not fluffed up like you oftentimes see in the movies, here you can see that you're not alone in your life's struggles.
Things I Didn't Love:
-I loved every bit of it!
In Conclusion:
You'll find this collection of poems relatable and comforting, I'd recommend this to anyone who has struggled with things such as anxiety, loneliness, or any other forms of mental illnesses.
