Rating: 3 stars
"Glued to the Past" by Doris Akosua Tay earns a solid three stars for its exploration of themes like faith, loss, and love within the intertwined lives of Carl Aikins and Nancy Palm. The narrative adeptly combines elements of mystery and romance against the backdrop of Akim-Asafo, Ghana, providing a culturally rich setting for the characters' journeys. While the story successfully delves into the complexities of love and the pursuit of justice, there are couple times when the pacing and transitions felt a bit uneven, affecting the overall flow of the narrative.
The characters, particularly Carl and Nancy, are well-developed and relatable, drawing readers into their struggles and aspirations. The exploration of their pasts and the impact on their present adds depth to the storytelling.
Despite these pacing and stuff, "Glued to the Past" remains an engaging read for those who appreciate a blend of mystery and romance set against a culturally vibrant backdrop. The book successfully captures the essence of its core themes, giving us a great, enjoyable story!
